Adobe Flash makeover for Computicket- Click for more |
After many years of Computicket.com being in everybody's 'sites they love to hate' list, the site has been given a ground up makeover by the team at Prezence. Resisting the temptation to rebuild completely in Adobe Flash (as per SterKinekor.com), Prezence created a very lightweight but highly intuitive interface enabling users to quickly find and book for their favourite shows.
Built on top of Computicket's existing physical ticketing platform, the new site delivers a wealth of new features and search functionality.Adobe Flash played a vital part in the development of the new site by providing the direct replacement for the old Java applet seating plan enabling far more control over the booking experience and saving over 100kb downloaded to the user (as well as some nice at a glance mini seating plan features). Also, the new 'Event Planner' tool enables festival goers to plan their days watching multiple shows without clashes and then be able to bulk buy their tickets in once transaction. All Flash was published as version 6 for maximum compatibility across South African internet users.
This new launch is phase 1 of a long line of developments and user enhancements planned by the Computicket.com team. Visit Computicket |

Adobe are bringing Flash Player 10 to smartphone class devices to enable the latest web browsing experience. Multiple partners have already received an early version of this release and Adobe expects to release a beta version for developers at the Max conference in October. Google’s Android, Nokia’s Symbian OS, Windows Mobile and the new Palm Web OS will be the first devices to support web browsing with the new Flash player. The beta version of the Flash 10 player will, of course, enable these devices to have a much richer mobile Internet browsing experience and will include the ability to play back some embedded video on Web pages. |

Leave no learner behind. Luanne showcases a website that does an amazing job of addressing different learning styles. "While doing some research on social bookmarking several months ago, I visited the del.icio.us website. As I scanned the list of popular websites, an entry called “Ian's Shoelace Site - Shoelace Knots - How To Tie Your Shoes” caught my eye. I was curious—who would make a website about tying shoes? There are zillions of hobby sites on the web, so what made me stay on Ian’s site? What made me click on the different links and explore? In a word—illustrations are what held me there." |

Content management systems (CMSs) are nothing new on the web. These systems are supposed to help users create, structure, and automate publishing content. Today, every company is looking to save costs and seems to be shifting attention back to the web (and hopefully to customers). The web is seeing another call to arms on all fronts from basic users to designers and developers. This time people are looking for good, flexible, free content management systems to run their web site. One of the most popular content management systems available today is Drupal. |
