    How does AI Assistant in Acrobat work?

    AI Assistant
    Users can ask questions in a single document or across multiple documents including non-PDF file types and receive easy-to-understand answers with attribution. Using responses from AI Assistant, customers can consume information across single or multiple documents and create impactful content based on their documents faster than ever — draft and share content for emails, presentations, meeting notes, research summaries and more.

    AI Assistant also helps break down complex contract language into key details, making it easy to read, understand and compare contracts directly in Acrobat. AI Assistant can also help you get more out of meetings by quickly generating meeting summaries from transcripts — saving you time by identifying key points, topics and action items.

    Generative summary
    With generative summary, customers can get an easy-to-read outline with headings and section-specific key points to help them focus on what matters in a streamlined way. Users can easily find, discern and navigate to essential information they need on demand.

    AI Assistant can help users accelerate document comprehension (across single or multiple documents) and transform their productivity:

    How can customers access AI Assistant in Acrobat?

    Acrobat Individual customers can access these features in Reader desktop and the Adobe Acrobat desktop application on both Windows and macOS, on the Acrobat web application, on Acrobat mobile applications (iOS and Android) and in their Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge extensions.     Will customers have to pay to use AI Assistant in Acrobat?

    Yes, full access is available to new and existing Acrobat customers through Adobe Acrobat Premium. Acrobat customers do not need to have an existing Acrobat Pro or Acrobat Standard plan to purchase.

    Which languages are supported?

    Currently, AI Assistant in Acrobat supports PDFs and documents in English, Japanese, French, German, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese with plans to add additional languages in future releases. AI Assistant may inadvertently provide responses in languages other than English, Japanese, French, German, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese, but these go beyond the intended purpose of the AI Assistant capability and should not be relied upon at this time.

    What limitations exist with AI Assistant in Acrobat?

    At this time, this feature works for PDFs and documents that meet certain criteria. It doesn’t yet support the following types of files:

    • Files exceeding 100MB in size per document and up to 10 documents
    • Files that contain more than 600 pages
    • Files with permissions that are configured in a way that prevents processing such as being password-protected or having the “do not copy” permission enabled
    • Files in English, Japanese, German, French, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese languages only; other languages to follow

    How can customers provide feedback?

    For Acrobat Individual subscribers, we encourage customers to provide feedback directly in the product. They can select the thumbs-up icon or thumbs-down icon to express their approval or disapproval respectively with the generated responses. To provide more detailed feedback, customers should select “Thanks! Tell us more” or choose from the provided options to add a note and then select “Submit.” Customers also can choose to share their document and its associated data with Adobe while providing more detailed feedback.

    If something inappropriate is generated, how can customers notify Adobe?

    In the case of inappropriate content being generated, customers should press the flag icon to report it. Their document and the associated data will be escalated to the Adobe Trust & Safety team and other internal channels to investigate and address.

    Did AI Assistant in Acrobat go through Adobe’s AI Ethics process?

    The new AI Assistant features went through a review process established by the Adobe AI Ethics Review Board and have been designed to reflect Adobe’s AI Ethics principles of accountability, responsibility and transparency.

    How will Adobe protect customers’ documents and data when they use Acrobat’s generative AI features?

    Adobe and its service providers do not use Adobe customer content to train the large language models that deliver Acrobat’s generative AI capabilities. Learn more about how Adobe protects your documents and content using responsible practices.

    What are the copyright implications of using generative AI features in Acrobat?

    Creating content that violates third-party copyright is prohibited. When using generative AI features in Acrobat, customers agree to only upload documents they have a legal right to use and they will not create, upload or share infringing content or content that violates our User Guidelines or the rights of others. They should seek independent legal counsel if they are unsure whether their content violates somebody else’s rights.
