Adobe is moving towards terminating license access on (or closer to) when license terms expire. From 1 December 2026, Adobe will deactivate licenses 14 days after the customer’s Anniversary Date if they have not been renewed. This applies to all VIP Marketplace accounts across all regions and customer segments.
The aim of this early notification is to provide Adobe’s valued partners with time to make any systematic or operational updates needed prior to the effective date of this change.
Why is Adobe making this change?
· In VIP, renewal SKUs allowed renewals from the Anniversary Date through the following 30 days. Orders in this window renewed licenses from the Anniversary Date, aligning license terms with access.
· VIP Marketplace instead uses auto-renewal and various renewal APIs (the Late Renewals API, Early Renewals API, Update Subscription API) to allow partners multiple options to renew their customers’ licenses in a way that is in sync with license access. (Here’s how to use these APIs for on-time renewals.)
· The transition to VIP Marketplace is now largely complete, and Adobe has seen high adoption of auto-renewal and other systematic features to support on-time renewals. Thus, a 30-day license access period is no longer needed.
As an example, a customer with an Anniversary Date of 30 November 2026 who does not renew on time, or within 14 days using the Late Renewals API, will have their license access terminated after 14 days, on 14 December 2026 (AD+14). And any renewal order placed between 30 November 2026 and 14 December 2026 must use the Late Renewals API, so that customer’s renewal license term will begin on 30 November 2026.
Is there any change to the return policy?
No. There is no change to the current 14-day standard return policy.
Is there any change to the Late Renewals API or policy?
No. All renewals are due before or on the Anniversary Date. The Late Renewals API can be used up to 14 days after the Anniversary Date to accommodate occasional system issues or administrative delays. For additional information on renewals, see the VIP Marketplace sales and administration playbook.
Does this change apply to government and education customers?
Yes. This change applies to all market segments.
Does this change apply to 3-year commit customers?
Yes. This update will apply to all VIP Marketplace customers starting on 1 December 2026, including 3-year commit customers. Please note that for 3-year commit customers auto-renewal is required for at least the Minimum Commitment.
Is this 14-day period an official grace period that partners can communicate to customers?
This should not be positioned as a grace period. Renewal orders remain due before or on the Anniversary Date. Adobe may allow up to 14 days for late renewals as a courtesy accommodation for occasional administrative delays or system issues only. Partners should continue to guide customers to renew by their Anniversary Date.
